He probably envied anyone who got better califications than him DEEPLY. In MY AU, he is obssessed with becoming a Tallest to the point of it being unhealthy. And I think this song describes perfectly the kind of unhealthy. No actually its worse but this song manages-

This hurts: Yeah I empathize a lot with Zim but I also recognize he would and already does manipulate people for his own gain. And this song is a big ass ego and manipulation, perfect.

Candle Queen: It's so him I actually don't know how to explain this. Its just...him manipulating others for his own gain, doing everything to be at the top, just to end up with everyone hating him and being at the bottom. Is this enough explanation?
Go ichi!: The sample is from Paranoia Agent chapter 2, Ichi, the character the chapter is concentrated on, reminds me a lot of Zim. He's self absorbed, and will do anything to be at the top. But at the end of the day, he's still a child with issues.
